grobag® baby sleeping bags

Founders and directors of gro-group®, Rob and Ouvrielle Holmes, started the company in 2000 when they manufactured and launched grobag® baby sleeping bags.

At that time the concept of baby sleeping bags was almost unheard of in the UK, so the phenomenal success of the grobag® brand can be largely attributed to the heavy investment in marketing and setting up a solid distribution base.  

The marketing of the grobag® brand has played a crucial role in developing awarensss of the concept of baby sleeping bags.  The brand is supported by both consumer and trade advertising, primarily appearing in mainstream parenting magazines.  Additionally, twice a year, the grobag® safe sleep products are showcased to nursery retailers at the Harrogate Nursery Fair and the Baby and Child Fair at the NEC.

gro-group has worked hard to build robust sales distribution channels via a mix of independent nursery retailers, major nursery retailers and its own mail order and web company Bump to 3.  

2006 saw the grobag® brand collect a Mother & Baby magazine gold award for ‘Best Nursery Item’ for the third year running and the Mother and Baby 'Award for Excellence', FQ magazine ‘Top Gear’ Gold Award for grobag® egg, and in early 2005 it collected a Parent Friendly Award from the children charity Tommy’s, adding to an increasingly impressive collection of accolades. Today, grobag® remains the UK’s favourite baby sleeping bag, selling one grobag® baby sleeping bag every 60 seconds.

Bumbo™

Bumbo™ is an award winning patented baby seat from South Africa, is one of the most clever inventions we've discovered.  Ouvrielle Holmes, co-founder of gro-group™, spotted Bumbo™ at Kind und Jugend Cologne trade fair in 2003 and just knew it would be a sensation in UK.  

The Bumbo™ is made from a soft, lightweight, non-toxic material. It can be used on any flat surface, and is durable and easy to clean. The Bumbo™ supports your baby in comfort in an upright sitting position, and there are no uncomfortable straps to worry about. Bumbo is designed so that the baby's own body weight helps to slightly narrow the gap above its legs, which gently keeps your baby in place.

With great distribution networks already in place, gro-group® (at the time known as grobag® ltd) became a distributor for Bumbo™.  

The Bump to 3 mail order catalogue played a major part in raising awareness of Bumbo™.  Sales rocketed initially through Bump to 3, then independent retailers and now it is now found in all major multiples and leading independent nursery stores.
